IDEA
We want to present the hidden beauties and pearls of Aceh to international tourists. Since there are best diving places on Pulau Weh, pristine beaches along the west-coast of Aceh, volcanoes to climb, rich biodiversity in the forests as well as in mammals as in birds, insects, reptiles. Several entrepreneurs started again tourism after the peacekeeping treatment among the conflict parties by reactivating the diving on Pulau Weh. We see a good chance in attracting people to visit the pristine rainforests of Gunung Leuser Eco System, to help preserving this paradise. By attracting tourists to visit Aceh and our only lodge, located in primary rainforests, the local Gayo people gain income and they support preserving nature and help protecting it against poachers and loggers. Therefore we try to offer sustainable Eco-tourism facilities in Gayo Lues. On the other hand the project will be accompanied by training farmers to plant and harvest coffee Arabica in organic and rainforest standards. The area is dedicated for such a project. Preserving pristine jungle and marketing high quality coffee will be our aim.

Our lodge is managed by European management and run by local Gayo staff according to high level standards. We support you in planning your roundtrip through Sumatra in combinations with diving, snorkeling, swimming.

Gunung Leuser Trek

LOCATION
Our lodge is located in the outskirts of pristine rainforest near a creek with all year fresh water at an altitude of approximately 1.400m above sea-level, 15km west of Blankenjeren in the district of Gayo Lues.

ACCOMMODATION
Several wooden lodges on stilts, accommodating 2 persons each, mosquito dome for 2 persons. Each lodge with spacious single room and balcony.

Accomodation only : IDR 70.000,-/person/night
Dinner : IDR 30.000,-/person
Breakfast : IDR 15.000,-/person


FOOD
Indonesian breakfast and dinner daily with rice, noodles, chicken, vegetables, fresh fruits, water, tea and coffee.
No alcoholic drinks, soft drinks on own expenses. Breakfast and dinner will be served in spacious open restaurant.

WATER & ELECTRICITY
Fresh water for shower from nearby passing jungle-creek, shared bathroom and toilet (mandi).
No electricity. Since we prefer Eco-tourism, we do not run generators. Photovoltaic elements presently under trial. Since Kedah Rainforest Lodges are located under pristine jungle giants, it is complicated to get sufficient photovoltaic power.
